As both a copywriter and journalist, I’ve always tried to say yes to food writing jobs as much as I can.
I have a love of convivial food cultures – and the traditions that surround the way we eat and drink.
So if you’re an editor of a consumer website, work for a tourism board, or have been commissioned to provide food copy as an agency, then please get in touch.
I can inspire readers about foods, write with a light touch, and file dependable copy on time.
Food writing: my expertise
Most of my food writing expertise is related to my writing about UK and European travel.
As a half-Greek, for example, I can write confidently about the food of Greece and Cyprus – from the sweetness of galaktoboureko (custard pastry) in the heat of the cities, to the bitterness of trahanas (fermented soup) in the cool of the mountains.
I’ve written about different cider cultures of Europe for commercial departments of the Telegraph and Guardian – from the sidrerias of northern Spain to the cider-serving tram of Frankfurt, Germany.
And working for a Telegraph advertorial supplement, I discovered the foods and drink of Flemish cities on a gastronomic tour of Belgium.
Much of my food writing is on file, so please get in touch to see examples of my work.
Food writing: how I help
I’ve done a huge amount of journalistic research on European food and drink over the years.
This means I can help you with food writing whether you’re an editor, a tourist board, or agency.
Deadline focus
I’m an experienced writer and I understand the importance of deadlines to editors. You can rely on me to supply copy when it’s needed – to high editorial quality.
Curiosity about food
I’ve provided food and drink articles to newspapers and magazines on the back of both press trips and independent travel.
For example, after a trip to the Jerez region, courtesy of the Sherry Association of Spain, I wrote a piece for the Glasgow Herald about sherry-infused barrels.
Interviewing skills
To enrich copy, I’ve interviewed countless people in the hospitality industry, from bakers to brewers, from chocolatiers to chefs and from winemakers to whisky makers.
